Sound recording is an electrical, mechanical, electronic, or digital inscription and re-creation of sound waves, such as spoken voice, singing, instrumental music, or sound effects. The two main classes of sound recording technology are analog recording and digital recording. 

A form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix, to a data storage device, the source from which all copies will be produced.

Audio mixing is the process by which multiple sounds are combined into one or more channels.  In the process, a source's volume level, frequency content, dynamics and panoramic position are manipulated or enhanced. This practical, aesthetic, or otherwise creative treatment is done in order to produce a finished version that is appealing to listeners.

The process of the development and/or creation of a song or musical idea. This can refer to the entire progression, from songwriting and composition to the actual recording process, sound design, all the way through the mixing and mastering process.
