This being the first step in the creation process, it is critical to get it right at the source. As your recording engineer, I’ll oversee the entire process of mic placement (if recording external sound sources), which includes choosing the correct microphone models and/or types, selecting the correct preamp (do we need a “colored” preamp, or a “clean” preamp). Is compression needed at the time of recording, or afterwards during the mixing process, or both? Setting the ensuing input levels, both at the preamp and as the signal enters the software at the mix station. These are just a few examples of what is involved with recording process. It is my goal to make the entire process both fun as well as productive.
